Your Tutor Your Tutor combines a network of expert Australian tutors and Internet technology to deliver real-time, online tutoring to students in years 4-12. Subjects covered include mathematics, science, English and research. This groundbreaking program is designed to run on libraries’ existing technology – computers with Internet access. After a successful trial in 2006/07 the online tutoring service is being rolled-out in April 2007 to the entire SA public library network.  This service is now accessible from any public library... from Ceduna to Browns Well, from Wudinna to Bordertown.  The service can also be accessed remotely, the user only needs their public library card. The program is relatively simple for students to use and after they enter their year level (4-12) and the subject they need help with the student is immediately connected to expert tutors in the Online Classroom for up to 20 minute long Online Tutoring session. Tutoring Australasia has a network of Australian tutors who are certified teachers, professional tutors, post-graduate students and undergraduates enrolled in honours courses at selected universities. All tutors undergo a background check, trained in online teaching techniques and fully familiar with each states individual curriculum’s eg South Australia SACE. Your Tutor online tutoring offers a total of 20 hours per week after school hours of tutoring assistance and access to this service can be done remotely for those students who have the Internet connected at home. There are enormous benefits to this program as it delivers equal access for all students to an important ad valuable educational service, provides access to curriculum experts, teaches technology skills needed for success in school and beyond, fulfils the library’s objectives to be a access point for new technologies and most importantly embraces the strategic plan by initiating projects and programs that improve library services.
